Shafer/Schweitzer House Apartments
Breckenridge Village is proud of the
fact that it serves individuals of all
income levels. The Shafer/ Schweitzer
Apartments (also known as the Ridge
Apartments) overlook scenic Ridge Road
and are government subsidized
apartments.
Under the regulations of the U.S.
Department of Housing & Urban
Development (HUD), rent subsidy is
available for individuals with income
less than $34,350 per year, or a couple
whose income does not exceed $39,300
annually. (2003 guidelines)
Annual income is determined by income
from assets and basic gross income or
imputed income (total net family assets
multiplied by 2.0%) plus basic income.
Monthly rent is generally 30% of
total monthly income. For example, if an
individual's monthly income were $500,
monthly rent would be $150. Residents
are also required to purchase their
evening meal at a fee of $192.00 per
month per person. One-bedroom apartments
are available for singles and
two-bedroom units are available for
couples.
Village services such as bus
transportation, housekeeping, home
health care and laundry facilities are
available to Shafer/Schweitzer residents
at a nominal fee. Other services are
available at an additional charge. Ridge
residents enjoy the many social and
recreational activities available
throughout the campus.
